The national pavilions are distributed between areas A, B and C according to their geographical location (the only exception is the pavilion of Morocco, which is not  in African Expo Area).

As an example of developing countries who are exposing in Shanghai 2010 we find Latin American countries, who have important economic and trade interests with China for its natural resources and markets, so they want to be known in the Universal Exhibition in Shanghai, aiming to attract investment and tourists from China.

It is expected that the Expo in Shanghai set a new record number of visitors from an International Exhibition of EIB (70 million), but has the great challenge of overcoming the Expo 67 in Montreal, which was visited by 50 million people in a time when Canada’s total population was 20 million and the 1970Osaka Expo, which remains by far the highest record of visitors, more than 64 million.

According to a survey conducted by the organizers, it is expected that about 95% of visitors will come from China, and the remaining 5%, some 3.5 million people, will be foreign visitors. Consequently, it is expected that 66.5 millions of Chinese will visit the Expo.

That’s why the 2010 Shanghai Expo can be regarded as the greatest opportunity that any country has had up today to become known within the large Chinese market.

In a survey by OgilvyACSR MillwardBrown to 15,000 people who came to visit the 2010 Shanghai China Expo, they were asked which national pavilions had planned to visit, we obtained the following results:

The United States Came in first with 48%, Followed by France with 38%. The United Kingdom andJapan tied for third with 32% each. With 28%, South Korea rounded out the Top Five.

But why are visitors  so interested to visit the U.S. Pavilion ? (Is by far the pavilion with most expectation) The U.S. pavilion is not one of the most expensive, with a cost of 61 dollars Millions lies well below the Saudi or Japanese pavilion, get down to unintentional - if fortuitous PR - or does it genuinely represents interest in the country?

A Spokesman for Ogilvy China Public Relations says that ” Familiarity with the country” is the main reason why people visit USA´s pavilion. So maybe it Did not Have anything to do with PR savvy after-all.
